Pula, being the largest city in the province of Istria (Istra) with a population of about 62.000, is situated in a large outstretching peninsula at the Adriatic sea coast, on seven hills, just like Rome. The well known Italian actress Alida Valli was born in Pula. The Pula Airport is situated north-east of Pula, and serves both domestic and international destinations, similar to the nearby situated Rijeka Airport on the island of Krk. International airports in close vicinity include Trieste in Italy, in Zagreb being the capital of Croatia and in Ljubljana being the captial of Slovenia.
